The Friends of the J.H. Animal Shelter was started to assist the Jeanette Hunt (Blair) Animal Shelter in providing for the needs that are above and beyond the City’s budget.  The Friends of the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter group is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered in the state of Nebraska.

The group consists solely of volunteers that care about the welfare of the animals.  We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the BAGBY conference room at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska

Some of those needs we address include:

• medical care for the animals
• networking with other rescue groups to increase adoptions
• work towards a low euthanasia rate
• fundraise for special projects
• promote responsible pet ownership
• spay/neuter programs

If you would like to join our group of volunteers, we would greatly appreciate any time donated!  We are very flexible with how much time you have to offer us and do not ask that you make any financial contributions.
