Our Mission:
To serve the citizens of Washington County, Nebraska and the surrounding areas by promoting:

the humane treatment of companion animals

helping reduce the number of injured and euthanized animals

increasing pet adoptions

supporting a safe and sanitary animal shelter

educating the community about responsible pet ownership
The Friends of the J.H. Animal Shelter was started to assist the Jeanette Hunt (Blair) Animal Shelter in providing for the needs that are above and beyond the City’s budget.
Some of the needs the Friends Group helps with include:

medical care for the animals

networking with other rescue groups to increase adoptions

work towards a low euthanasia rate

fundraise for special projects

promote responsible pet ownership

spay/neuter programs
